Swedish waters include some 6,300 nautical miles of fairways, ranging from commercial fairways to fairways mostly used by the leisure-boat traffic, which are maintained by the Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) or other stakeholders. Operations in the area of fairways and navigational aids include supervision and maintenance of the breadth and depth of fairways as well as the supervision, operation and maintenance of fairway facilities such as beacons, buoys and sparbuoys.
