Wind limit

Tugboat assistance on arrival is compulsory when the wind force is above 15 m/s (in average) from any direction, according to following: 

  • Ships between 15 000 - 50 000 DWT, with bowthruster in working condition,  shall use one more tug than usual. More than two tugs are not nescessary. 
Visibility 

The visibility must be at least 1.5 nm on arrival and 1.0 nm at departure for ships with assistance of escort tug.

Vessels with LOA > 150 m

Max wind: 12 m/s and only in daylight.

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

Vessels LOA > 200 m 

Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse earliest 1 hour before sunrise.
Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse latest 1.5 hour before sunset.

Departure Stenungsund earliest 0.5 hour before sunrise.
Departure Stenungsund latest  1 hour before sunset. 

Limit at Talludden berth during darkness: 

Vessels max LOA 100 m during arr./dep.

Limits with visibility < 0.5 nm:

All vessels:  max LOA 150 m.
Vessels loaded with gas: max LOA 125 m.
Vessels loaded with ammonia:   all vessels.

Wind limit: 

Arrival berth max 20 m/s. 

Uddevalla

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

Vessels LOA > 200 m 

Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse earliest 1 hour before sunrise.
Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse in the evening. Decision of pilot.

Limit at Badökajen berth during darkness:

Vessels max LOA 180 m during arr./dep. 

Limits with visibility < 0.5 nm: 

All vessels:  max LOA 150 m.
Vessels loaded with gas: max LOA 125 m.
Vessels loaded with ammonia:   all vessels.

Wind limit: 

Vessels with large “wind area”:

Max wind: 12 m/s in fairway to Uddevalla.

Wallhamn

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

Vessels LOA > 200 m

Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse latest 1.5 hour before sunset. 

Departure Wallhamn earliest 0.5 hour before sunrise.
Departure Wallhamn latest  1 hour before sunset.

All vessels:  max LOA 150 m.
Vessels loaded with gas: max LOA 125 m.
Vessels loaded with ammonia:   all vessels

Wind limit: 

There are no reductions in the tugboat recommendations, at wind force above 10 m/s. 

Vessels with large “wind area”:

Max wind: 15 m/s.

Rönnäng

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

No piloting in the fairway during darkness.

Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse latest 1 hour before sunset

Departure Rönnäng earliest 0.5 hour before sunrise.

Göteborg Pilot Station


Tankers above 30 000 ton DW (deadweight) and up to LOA 230 m:

Min visibility: 0.5 NM

Tankers with LOA 230 m – 290 m or vessels with draft > 12.0 m:

Max wind:  15 m/s
Min visibility loaded: > 2 NM
Min visibility ballast: > 1 NM


Tankers with LOA exceeding 290 m (VLCC): 

Arrival shall be done in daylight. Vessel can be embarked one hour before sunrise and three hours before sunset. For departure, daylight is needed when leaving the berth.

It may be possible, that when exceptional weather systems are coming, to depart with VLCC without daylight. Such a departure, witch means exemption from usual practice, can take place only subject to consultation between the pilot / captain and the port captain and CTO.

Min visibility: > 2 NM


Dry cargo vessels with LOA > 300 m:

Max wind:      20 m/s
Min visibility on arrival:
0.25 NM

Berth 601:
