The Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) and the Royal Danish Administration of Navigation and Hydrography (RDANH) have entered into a joint venture: A pilot project which will establish whether a joint mandatory ship reporting system in the form of a Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) will improve the safety in the Sound and if so, how the service should best be created and which areas should be covered.
A joint Swedish/Danish VTS-centre with staff from both countries has been established in Öresundshuset in Malmö.
