The Public Affairs Department has two units: Transport Policy and International Cooperation Division and Swedish Seamen's Service.
Public Affairs is involved in producing input on strategically important matters that affect the organisation and for preparing the Administration’s three-year plans. The department is also in charge of issues related environmental policy, coordination of research, development and demonstration activities (RD&D), coordination of the Administration’s international activities that are not within another department’s purview and the Administration’s service exports.
Public Affairs handles matters of tariffs and duties and the certification of the fee reduction in cases under the Swedish Maritime Administration's regulations on the conditions of environmentally differentiated fairway dues.
The unit Swedish Seamen's Service plans, coordinates and implements the issues of cultural and leisure activities for seafarers in accordance with ILO Convention No. 163.
